Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone. We just crossed midnight in the Eastern time zone.

I am excited for 2009 in general but especially for all the changes that it will bring to Media Center and the Media Center community. I can't wait!

Thanks for all of the great information you have been providing on your blog. I am now at the point where I am designing our home entertainment/media center for a newly constructed home. We are looking at having 2 flat screen TVs (one in Kitchen & one in Family room) that we would like to use as BOTH, TVs and PCs. The information that you have provided on the Windows Media Center has proved very useful. We are looking at using a Media Center extender (probably Linksys DMA 2100) to provide Media content plus live TV to the kitchen but what I am not sure about is how we can get the kitchen TV to work as a PC when we are not using it with the Media Center. This is necessary to say, surf the Internet for a recipe or check Email etc). Do you have any suggestions for such a setup. For additional information, the family room and kitchen are separated by about 35 feet with a "utility" closet between the 2 which is where we plan to house all of the home entertainment equipment(including PC). Since the walls are open, we are thinking about running HDMI and Coax cables to each of the TVs from the utility closet.

I would love to hear your ideas!! Thanks in advance.

leebee,

I would be more than happy to help you with this project. Shoot me an email at aechevarria@gmail.com and we can talk more about it.

As far as the scenario you are talking about in the kitchen, you definitely cannot do that with the extender, but you do have some options since this is new construction. Email me so we can discuss.
